Facilities

Shin research group owns the following local computing resources, which are used for development and testing of software tools, as well as for conducting educational activities.

  • shin-login: A storage node equipped with 20TB of SSD storage, running Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The storage node is used for hosting the home directories. The system utilizes a ZFS file system with a RAID configuration for data redundancy and integrity, with daily backups to an external hard drive.
  • shin-compute-000: A compute node equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 CPUs (48 cores), 384GB RAM, and two NVIDIA GV100 GPUs, running Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. This node is designated for the development and testing of software based on NVIDIA GPU architecture.
  • shin-compute-001: A compute node equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs (32 cores), 1TB RAM, and two NVIDIA GV100 GPUs, running Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. This node is designated for the development and testing of software based on NVIDIA GPU architecture.
  • shin-compute-002: A compute node equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 CPUs (32 cores), 256GB RAM, along with a Radeon VII GPU, running Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The Radeon VII GPU supports development and testing of the proposed software on AMD accelerator-based HPC systems, such as the Frontier supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
